SES: ASTRA 1P starts delivering video content

(CercleFinance.com) - SES announced today that ASTRA 1P, the company's highest-performing satellite at 19.
2 degrees East, has successfully completed all in-orbit acceptance tests and is now fully operational.

ASTRA 1P will now begin serving both public and private content owners and broadcasters, as well as sports organizations.

ASTRA 1P can support hundreds of HD TV channels and guarantee the highest picture quality for viewers in Europe's major TV markets.

' 'The entry into service of ASTRA 1P will enable us to set a new standard for satellite broadcasting in Europe,' said Milton Torres, Chief Technical Officer (CTO) of SES.

' This new offering will strengthen our ability to deliver premium content to some 118 million TV households with exceptional reliability and image quality.

Manufactured by Thales Alenia Space, ASTRA 1P was successfully launched on June 20, 2024 aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral, Florida.
