STMicroelectronics partners with start-up Quobly

(CercleFinance.com) - STMicroelectronics announced on Thursday that it would be teaming up with Quobly, a Grenoble-based start-up specializing in quantum computing.

Under the terms of this strategic partnership, Quobly plans to leverage the FD-SOI technology developed by the semiconductor manufacturer to develop quantum processing units (QPUs).

In the first stage of the collaboration, the two partners plan to deploy ST's 28nm FD-SOI technology with the aim of scaling a 100-qubit quantum system.

A first generation of quantum processors should be available by 2027, for use in materials development and system modeling.

Founded in 2022 by former CEA and CNRS researchers, Quobly has set itself the goal of developing a quantum computer with a capacity exceeding one million qubits by 2031.

To achieve this, the company raised 19 million euros last year, setting a record in the European quantum sector.
