Siemens: supports the decarbonization of the University of Kent
(CercleFinance.com) - The University of Kent (UoK) in the UK has announced that it will halve carbon emissions on its campuses thanks to a strategy developed in partnership with Siemens Smart Infrastructure.
Based on a detailed energy audit, the initiative aims to optimize the energy performance of the Canterbury and Medway sites, which are home to over 19,000 students.
Initial measures include the installation of LED lighting, the modernization of building management systems and optimized space utilization.
UoK plans to achieve carbon neutrality for scopes 1 and 2 emissions by 2040, and scope 3 emissions by 2050. Siemens is financing the project via a flexible financing plan.
