Lockheed Martin: $245 million torpedo contract extended
(CercleFinance.com) - Lockheed Martin announces that it has been awarded a $245 million contract extension by the U.
S. Naval Sea Systems Command for the MK-48 Guidance and Control Mod 7 program.
Specifically, this program covers the guidance and control system for MK-48 Mod 7 torpedoes, used primarily by submarines.
The contract consolidates purchases from the US Navy, the Royal Australian Navy and the Foreign Military Sales program. It will enable the Allied Forces to increase their inventories. Lockheed Martin is scheduled to deliver this contract by September 2027.
According to Tom Warner, Vice President of Undersea Warfare at Lockheed Martin RMS, "this extension reflects the company's commitment to modernizing this technology and meeting the strategic needs of its partners".
