USA: Composite PMI revised down slightly for November
(CercleFinance.com) - U.
S. private sector growth accelerated slightly less than initially estimated in November, according to S&P Global's composite PMI index, which finally came in at 54.9, compared with a flash estimate of 55.3 and 54.1 for the previous month.
For the record, it is the 50-point threshold that separates an expansion and a contraction in a sector's activity: the higher the PMI is above this threshold, the faster the pace of expansion.
The revised composite index, which nonetheless remains at a 31-month high, reflects an expansion in overall activity that continues to be driven by services, while manufacturing output is again contracting.
