Nokia: the Nokia Foundation has awarded its 2024 prize
(CercleFinance.com) - The Nokia Foundation has awarded its 2024 Recognition Award to Dr.
Kimmo Koski , Managing Director of CSC. The award was presented for his key role in the creation of the LUMI supercomputer and the Kajaani data center ecosystems.
Scientific research is increasingly data-driven, and almost all scientific disciplines use computational methods to analyze large datasets. This trend is also evident in the research, development and innovation activities of private companies.
In this context, high-performance computing and data ecosystems play a crucial role. The LUMI supercomputer strengthens the international reach of Finnish and European science, accelerating both innovation and competitiveness', says the Group.
Hannu Kauppinen, Chairman of the Board of the Nokia Foundation, said: 'Over the years, Dr. Kimmo Koski has worked systematically and made fundamental contributions to promoting the Finnish supercomputing environment and expanding its international connections and significance across Europe and beyond'.
The Nokia Foundation has awarded more than 2,000 grants in its 29 years of existence. In 2024, the Foundation will award scholarships and prizes totaling around 400,000 euros.
