Valeo announced on Tuesday that it would be teaming up with Japanese semiconductor manufacturer Rohm to optimize the next generation of its power modules for electric motor inverters.


The companies - which say they have been working together since 2022 - explain that they intend to combine their expertise in automotive power electronics management.

Initially, Rohm will supply Valeo with its two-in-one silicon carbide (SiC) power module for the development of future propulsion systems for electric vehicles (EVs) and plug-in hybrids (PHEVs).

Valeo plans to start supplying a first series project in early 2026, with the aim of improving the efficiency and reducing the size of its next-generation inverters.
