BMW: Regensburg plant to go hydrogen in 2026
(CercleFinance.com) - BMW Group announces that its Regensburg plant will use hydrogen for its logistics operations from 2026.
Hydrogen-powered tractor-trailers and forklifts will gradually replace electric vehicles, particularly in the stamping, bodywork and assembly shops, to optimize parts delivery.
Armin Ebner, plant manager, said the transition to hydrogen was part of BMW's iFACTORY strategy, focused on digital, sustainable factories.
According to project manager Katharina Radtke, hydrogen offers 'rapid refueling and space savings, thanks to compact stations located in production areas'.
In addition, the plant's logistics fleet of 230 vehicles will switch entirely to hydrogen by 2030.
