Ericsson: 5G for Singapore's port, with Singtel
(CercleFinance.com) - Ericsson announces a partnership with Singtel to deploy advanced 5G connectivity solutions at the Port of Tuas in Singapore, supporting PSA Singapore's (a subsidiary of PSA International, a global leader in the port terminal management sector) plan to build the world's largest fully automated port by the 2040s.
Existing automated vehicles, such as automated guided vehicles (AGVs), will be upgraded to 5G to improve real-time shipment tracking and optimize crane operations.
Singtel will activate a 5G network slice to offer dedicated resources (high speeds, broadband and low latency) and secure private networks to protect data.
The 5G network will eventually enable PSA to reach an annual capacity of 65 million TEUs (container equivalent units).
