Lockheed Martin: Romania buys 32 F-35 aircraft
(CercleFinance.com) - The Romanian government has signed a Letter of Offer and Acceptance for the purchase of 32 5th generation F-35 Lightning II fighter jets through a foreign military sale with the US.
The purchase is to strengthen Romania's national defense and NATO deterrence capabilities.
Lockheed Martin, Romania's defense partner for 30 years, said the decision consolidates Romania's national security.
The F-35s, compatible with the existing F-16 fleet, will benefit from local infrastructure, such as the European F-16 Training Center in Romania, to ensure an effective transition and training.
