Nokia: cloud contract extended with Microsoft

(CercleFinance.com) - Nokia announced on Thursday that it has extended its contract with Microsoft Azure, Microsoft's cloud services platform, to which it supplies technology equipment, for another five years.

Under the terms of the agreement, the Finnish group will continue to supply its routers and switches to the American giant's data centers, although the scope of its activities will be extended to some 30 countries.

Nokia, which has been working with Microsoft for the past six years, says the agreement reinforces its role as a "strategic supplier" for Microsoft's global cloud infrastructures.

The company says it plans to start deploying its 7250 IXR-10e interconnect routers from next February, to help Microsoft orchestrate its migration from 100 gigabits/second (100GE) connectivity to 400GE capacity.

The financial terms of the contract were not specified.
