Spie participates in Safran's low-carbon project
(CercleFinance.com) - Spie Building Solutions, Spie's French subsidiary, has announced its participation in the "low-carbon" project at Safran Aircraft Engines' Le Creusot site (71).
This initiative aims to reduce the industrial site's CO2 emissions by 50% by 2030, with 2018 as the reference year.
Safran aims to reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions at the Le Creusot site, whose 15,500 m2 buildings house the manufacture of turbine disks for LEAP engines, which power new medium-haul aircraft for Airbus, Boeing and Chinese aircraft manufacturer COMAC.
Spie Building Solutions was called in to remove the gas-fired combustion chambers used to heat the workshops and replace them with hot-water batteries - a more environmentally-friendly solution.
As a result, the site's consumption of hydraulic energy should fall from 2,300 kWh of gas to 900 kWh of electricity by 2025.
