NHOA: start-up of BESS projects in the Balearic Islands

(CercleFinance.com) - NHOA Energy, NHOA's subsidiary dedicated to energy storage, has announced that it has signed the agreements and begun execution activities with Red Eléctrica for the supply of two battery storage projects (BESS) in the Balearic Islands, with a capacity of 140MW and 105MWh.


"The systems will provide continuous support services to the islands' grids and will represent, in aggregate, the largest SATA (Storage as Transmission Asset) in southern Europe", it states.

They will be deployed in the islands' substations, to support the interconnection lines with the mainland and maximize the power exchanges of the interconnections with the island of Mallorca, thus contributing to the decarbonization of the Balearic Islands.
