Diageo: inaugurates whisky distillery in China
(CercleFinance.com) - On Friday Diageo announced the inauguration of the YunTuo single malt whisky distillery in Eryuan County, China, thereby marking a turning point for Chinese whisky.
With an investment of $120m over nine years, this first Diageo distillery in China combines global expertise and local resources to produce "whisky of exceptional quality", it says.
Located at an altitude of 2100 metres, the distillery benefits from a temperate climate and unique natural resources, such as spring water and Yunnan oak for maturation, Diageo adds.
This facility embodies Diageo's innovation and ambition to position China on the global whisky map.
