Meta: EU fines Meta nearly E800m

(CercleFinance.com) - The European Commission has fined Meta E797.
72m for violating EU antitrust rules. NB pmt -0.7%.

Meta abused its dominant position by linking Facebook Marketplace to its Facebook social network and by imposing unfair commercial conditions on online classified ad providers, notably on Facebook and Instagram.

The Commission requires Meta to cease these practices immediately and to undertake not to repeat them.

Margrethe Vestager, executive vice-president in charge of competition, declared that these behaviors, aimed at favoring Facebook Marketplace, are 'illegal' and must 'be stopped'.
