Nokia: successfully tests PSE-6s on submarine cable
(CercleFinance.com) - Nokia and Islalink have successfully tested Nokia's PSE-6s technology on a 330 km submarine cable between Italy and Greece, setting a new capacity record for 800 Gbps transmission.
The IONIAN network, developed by Islalink, connects the two countries via a submarine link and offers 'high-speed, reliable connectivity'.
Nokia points out that its PSE-6s technology not only improves network performance, but also enables a 60% reduction in energy consumption per bit. The success of this test reinforces Islalink's position as a major player in the international fiber market.
It hails this breakthrough, underlining the benefits in terms of capacity, reliability and efficiency for users of high-speed digital services.
