Philips: new radiotherapy scanner approved in the USA
(CercleFinance.com) - Philips announced on Tuesday that it had received the green light from the US health authority to market its Spectral CT 7500 RT, a new scanner dedicated to radiotherapy applications.
In a press release, the Dutch healthcare equipment manufacturer states that it has received 510(k) clearance from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) allowing its system to be marketed in the USA.
Based on spectral detection, this scanner provides high-quality images, with the aim of better identifying each patient's disease and establishing a precision diagnosis.
According to Philips, the Spectral CT 7500 RT paves the way for a new era in personalized cancer treatment, by integrating tumor visualization tools enabling radiation oncologists to target the tumor specifically, while minimizing the impact of radiation on healthy cells and limiting side effects.
