J&J: FDA green light for robotic system trial
(CercleFinance.com) - Johnson & Johnson MedTech has announced that the FDA has approved the Investigational Device Exemption (IDE) for its OTTAVA robotic surgical system, thereby authorizing the launch of clinical trials in the United States.
Johnson & Johnson MedTech is preparing clinical sites to receive the system, enroll patients and start procedures.
The device, designed to meet unmet needs in robotic surgery, features a compact architecture with four robotic arms and advanced intra-operative repositioning technology.
J&J specifies that this system is compatible with Ethicon instruments, and relies on the Polyphonic digital ecosystem to connect surgical technologies and support clinical decision-making.
