Stellantis: graphite supply agreement with Novonix
(CercleFinance.com) - Australia's Novonix announced on Monday that it has signed a supply agreement with Stellantis for high-performance synthetic graphite to be used in the manufacture of battery cells.
In a press release, the materials manufacturer states that the contract covers the total supply of a minimum of 86,250 tons, a volume that could rise to 115,000 tons.
These compounds will be delivered to Stellantis' North American partners in battery cell design for electric vehicles over a six-year period, starting in 2026.
Novonix explains that it intends to produce this artificial graphite from its Riverside site, which is set to become the largest in the sector in North America when it comes on stream in 2025.
According to the company, the plant could eventually reach a production capacity of around 20,000 tons per year.
