Caterpillar: extends autonomous truck fleet to 90t
(CercleFinance.com) - Caterpillar announced today that it has successfully demonstrated the fully autonomous operation of its Cat 777 truck at the Bull Run site in Virginia (USA), marking an important milestone in its ambition to provide an autonomous transport solution for the quarrying and aggregates sector.
This deployment - Caterpillar's first in the aggregates industry - enables it to extend its fleet of autonomous trucks to include 90-ton class vehicles.
In collaboration with Luck Stone, a family-owned producer of building materials, Caterpillar has been refining this technology over the past two years into a scalable, cost-effective solution aimed at improving safety and productivity.
This success at Bull Run is a key step towards a commercial offer of autonomous technologies in quarries", explains the manufacturer.
