USA: slight rise in weekly jobless claims

(CercleFinance.com) - The Labor Department announced that 221,000 new jobless claims were registered in the USA last week, up by 3,000 on the week of October 28, which was revised from 216,000 to 218,000.


The four-week moving average - more representative of the underlying trend - came in at 227,250, down by 9,750 on the previous week.

Finally, the number of people receiving regular benefits rose by 39,000 to 1,892,000 in the week to October 21, the most recent period available for this statistic.
