USA: Composite PMI revised down slightly for October
(CercleFinance.com) - Growth in the US private sector accelerated slightly less than initially estimated in October, according to S&P Global's composite PMI index, which came in at 54.
1, compared with 54.3 in the flash estimate, and after 54 for the previous month.
For the record, it is the 50-point threshold that separates an expansion and a contraction in a sector's activity: the higher the PMI is above this threshold, the faster the pace of expansion.
The index therefore reflects continued solid growth in the private sector, albeit with reductions in employment levels for the third month in a row, while price inflation hit a 53-month low.
