BASF: sells flocculants business to Solenis
(CercleFinance.com) - On 1 November 2024, BASF announced that it sold its flocculants business (materials that facilitate the progressive aggregation of suspended matter in liquids to facilitate separation) for the mining sector to Solenis, a global producer of specialty chemicals for water-intensive industries.
The sale includes the Magnafloc, Rheomax, Alclar, Alcotac, Jetwet, Aerowet and Alcotech flocculant brands.
BASF will now focus on the development of flotation reagents and innovative solutions in solvent extraction and leaching to reinforce its growth.
Anup Kothari, member of the Board of Management of BASF SE, said that this strategy, aligned with the 'Winning Ways' initiative, was aimed at optimising the portfolio and ensuring sustainable growth in the mining industry.
