GE Vernova energizes five substations in Iraq

(CercleFinance.com) - GE Vernova and the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity have announced the early completion and energization of five 132 kV substations in Iraq, at Al Hindia, Al Sader, Al Qaim Saada, North Baqubah and Yaramja South - the latter two having been delivered six months ahead of schedule.

These facilities, which are part of a set of ten substations, are designed to stabilize the Iraqi network, improve its efficiency and facilitate interconnection with the Jordanian network.

Once the ten substations are completed, the Iraqi transmission system will be able to transmit an additional 2,200 MVA (megavoltamperes), sufficient to supply around 300,000 homes.

The Iraqi Minister of Electricity stressed the importance of this collaboration to modernize the national grid and meet the growing demand for electricity.
