BMW: automated logistics at the Regensburg plant

(CercleFinance.com) - BMW's Regensburg plant has implemented the digitization and automation of logistics through a cloud-based traffic control system.


At the Regensburg site, this logistics task, essential for efficient production, is mainly handled by driverless, automated or autonomous transport systems that are intelligently connected via a cloud-based traffic control system known as BMW Automated Transport Services (ATS).

The plant currently provides an intelligent connection between almost 50 automated tug trains and over 140 intelligent transport robots via the ATS control system. The fleet includes both automated and autonomous devices from various manufacturers, handling around 10,000 part deliveries every working day.

'Intelligent connectivity through the cloud-based traffic control system ensures optimal route guidance and on-time supply of parts to the assembly line based on delivery priority' says the group.
