Safran: agreement to create a maintenance facility in Morocco
(CercleFinance.com) - Safran Aircraft Engines announced yesterday the signature of a memorandum of understanding with the Moroccan government for the creation of a LEAP engine maintenance workshop, to be operational by 2026.
The construction of this new 25,000 m2 workshop in the Casablanca airport zone is part of a massive investment plan to develop the worldwide maintenance and repair network supporting the growth of the LEAP engine fleet.
This engine model powers the majority of the Airbus A320neo and Boeing 737 MAX new-generation single-aisle aircraft families, representing some 4,000 aircraft in service worldwide.
This workshop will benefit from the highest standards in terms of industrial and energy performance", assured Jean-Paul Alary, President of Safran Aircraft Engines.
The new site will create around 600 direct jobs by 2030. Ultimately, it will have a maintenance capacity of 150 engines per year, says Safran.
