USA: composite PMI estimated up slightly in October
(CercleFinance.com) - Growth in the US private sector accelerated slightly this month, according to S&P Global's composite PMI, which came in at a flash estimate of 54.
3 for October, after 54 for the previous month.
For the record, the 50-point threshold separates expansion and contraction in a sector's activity: the higher the PMI above this threshold, the faster the pace of expansion.
The level of the October index thus reflects a robust expansion in private sector activity, driven however solely by services, while manufacturing output contracted for a third consecutive month.
