USA: decline in weekly jobless claims

(CercleFinance.com) - The US Department of Labor reported 227,000 new jobless claims in the week to October 14, down 15,000 on the previous week (revised from 241,000 to 242,000).


The four-week moving average - more representative of the underlying trend - came in at 238,500, up 2,000 week-on-week.

Finally, the number of people receiving regular benefits rose by 28,000 to 1,897,000 during the week of October 7, the most recent period available for this statistic.
