Ericsson: world first with Telstra

(CercleFinance.com) - Ericsson in partnership with Telstra, today announced that it has achieved a world-first 5G uplink speed of 447 Mbps in a standalone 5G network below 6 GHz on Telstra's live commercial 5G network.

This milestone was achieved in Telstra's Southport Innovation Centre commercial network, exceeding the previous record of over 100 Mbps, setting a new benchmark for global uplink performance in 5G SA networks.

This new record is an important milestone for the industry, as uplink performance is essential for high-definition live streaming, video conferencing and other download-data-intensive applications, particularly in entertainment, industrial and enterprise environments.

Going forward, Ericsson and Telstra will continue to work together to redefine the boundaries of network capabilities.

Sri Amirthalingam, Telstra's Director of Wireless Engineering, says: ' Our ongoing work with Ericsson to push the boundaries of 5G uplink speeds underlines our commitment to delivering the best possible network experiences for our customers. '

' As we continue to be at the forefront of 5G innovation, this breakthrough marks another step forward in delivering enhanced network performance,' adds Emilio Romeo, Head of Ericsson Australia and New Zealand.
