Siemens joins forces with Alliander in the Netherlands

(CercleFinance.com) - Siemens and Alliander, a major Dutch grid company, with its subsidiary Liander, the largest Dutch Distribution System Operator (DSO) in the Netherlands, today entered into a strategic partnership to accelerate the energy transition and address key challenges in distribution grid management.

Siemens' Gridscale X platform will be used by Alliander to reduce grid congestion and increase grid utilization. It is estimated that this partnership could extend grid utilization in the Netherlands by 10-30%.

Alliander is an energy distribution company that distributes gas and electricity in the Netherlands, serving around 3.5 million customers.

' Flexibility management is essential for a sustainable and resilient grid, enabling the efficient integration of renewable energy sources and meeting the evolving demands of our modern energy system', said Sabine Erlinghagen, Managing Director of Siemens Grid Software.

Daan Schut, Transition Director and Alliander Board Member, added: ' The partnership and software knowledge sharing with Siemens enables us to leverage their open and interoperable software to develop solutions that will help us ensure a more stable and sustainable grid for our customers. '
