Porsche: modifies its factory driver team for 2025
(CercleFinance.com) - Porsche has fine-tuned its Porsche Penske Motorsport factory driver line-up for the 2025 season.
In contrast to the 2024 season, only two drivers will now regularly compete in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC).
Former Porsche junior Julien Andlauer, a native of France, has been promoted to the Stuttgart-based automaker's factory driver team for next year.
Three-time Le Mans winner André Lotterer from Germany and four-time IMSA champion Cameron from Denmark will leave the successful Porsche 963 program after their contracts expire at the end of the year.
Frédéric Makowiecki from France and Porsche Motorsport have agreed to end their collaboration after eleven years.
For the 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship, Michael Christensen from Denmark and Julien Andlauer from France will be the regular drivers of the #5 Porsche 963. The n°6 sister car will be driven mainly by Belgian Laurens Vanthoor and Frenchman Kévin Estre.
The current plan is to bring in a third driver for the 24 Hours of Le Mans and to prepare for the climax of the WEC season. The cockpit of the n°5 car has been reserved for Mathieu Jaminet (France) and Australian Matt Campbell will drive the n°6 car.
