Arkema: acrylate exclusively from bioethanol

(CercleFinance.com) - Arkema now produces ethyl acrylate exclusively from bioethanol, at its acrylic monomer production site in Carling, France.

Arkema's biobased ethyl acrylate offers a biological carbon content (BCC) of 40% and a reduction in the product's carbon footprint (PCF) of up to 30%. Bioethanol is a plant-derived feedstock.

'This production paves the way for a new generation of more sustainable acrylic monomers. Biobased ethyl acrylate will benefit our downstream production as well as our customers, enabling them to achieve their sustainable development objectives", said Hervé Castres Saint Martin, President of Arkema's Acrylic Monomers business.

This new step reinforces Arkema's roadmap to decarbonize its acrylic monomer offering. It completes and reinforces the investment announced in 2023 to optimize the acrylic acid production process and reduce by 20% the scopes 1 and 2 emissions of its Carling site in France.
