Wendel: agreement to acquire Monroe Capital

(CercleFinance.com) - Wendel has announced that it has entered into a definitive partnership agreement to acquire 75% of Monroe Capital, a transaction that significantly broadens its asset management platform, and strengthens its growth and recurring cash generation profile.


The investment company also plans to participate in future fundraising rounds of up to $800m to accelerate Monroe Capital's growth, and to invest up to $200m in General Partner commitments.

This transaction is in line with the strategy announced in March 2023, which aims to develop a private asset management business alongside Wendel's historical proprietary investment activities, it says.

Subject to the satisfaction and finalization of the conditions for completion (including obtaining regulatory approvals), the acquisition is expected to close in H1 2025.
