Sanofi: negotiations confirmed for sale of Opella

(CercleFinance.com) - Sanofi announces that it has entered into exclusive negotiations for the potential sale of a controlling 50% stake in Opella to CD&R, a transaction in which Bpifrance is expected to participate by becoming a minority shareholder with a stake of around 2%.


By selling the world's number 3 in OTC medicines, vitamins, minerals and dietary supplements, Sanofi would become a science-focused biopharma committed to delivering innovative medicines and vaccines to patients.

Opella's valuation is based on an enterprise value of around E16bn. Completion of the proposed transaction, subject to definitive agreements and customary conditions and approvals, is expected in Q2 2025 at the earliest.

As a result, Sanofi is revising upwards its 2024 business EPS guidance. Based on the new perimeter, excluding Opella, it expects to grow by a percentage at least in the low single-digit range at constant exchange rates.
