BMW: two electric trucks at the Leipzig plant
(CercleFinance.com) - The Group announces the development of electrification in transport logistics.
Two all-electric trucks have taken over responsibility for transporting components between the warehouse and the high-voltage battery production halls at the BMW Group's Leipzig plant.
These electric trucks will save around nine tonnes of CO2 per year compared with conventional diesel-powered transport vehicles.
The two electric trucks make the eight-kilometer round trip between the logistics center and the high-voltage battery production halls in Leipzig up to twelve times a day.
That's almost 100 kilometers per truck per day, driven silently and without any local emissions.
Plant Manager Petra Peterhänsel said: 'The transition to electromobility and sustainable production concerns not only our BMW and MINI cars, but also our production methods and supply chains. '
