TF1: towards increased investment in cinema
(CercleFinance.com) - TF1 announced on Thursday evening that it would be increasing its investment in film creation as part of a new three-year agreement with French film professionals.
The TV group plans to increase its pre-purchases and purchases of French and European films to 3.65%, up from 3.5% previously, while pre-funding a minimum average of 19 films each year.
Purchases of broadcasting rights for French and European films will continue to be able to represent up to 20% of its obligations.
At the same time, the agreement provides for an extension of the exposure of pre-financed films on its TF1+ streaming platform, which will now be available on replay for a period of 30 days, compared with the current seven days.
TF1 states that it also intends to devote a minimum of 19.2 million euros per year to the purchase of European and original French-language cinematographic works.
