GTT: order for tanks for two new ethane tankers

(CercleFinance.com) - GTT announced on Wednesday that its partner, the Korean shipyard HD Hyundai Samho, had awarded it the contract to design the tanks for two new ultra-large ethane tankers.


The engineering group says it has been commissioned to design the tanks for these new ultra-large ethane carriers (ULECs), each with a capacity of 150,000 m3, on behalf of shipowner Eastern Pacific Shipping.

These technologies will integrate the Mark III membrane containment system, also developed by GTT.

This system has been designed to transport several types of liquefied gases from the petrochemical industry, as well as LNG, thus enhancing operational flexibility over the life of the vessel.

Delivery of the vessels is scheduled for the second and third quarters of 2027.

On the Paris Bourse, GTT shares rose slightly (+0.4%) following the announcement of this order, bringing their gains since the beginning of the year to over 8%.
