ASML: plunges after disappointing outlook

(CercleFinance.com) - ASML shares are plunging 5% in Amsterdam today, the day after the company's Q3 2024 results were announced - by mistake during the trading - marked by very disappointing orders and a revision of the 2025 guidance to the lower end of the range, Oddo BHF notes.

The broker notes that the semiconductor equipment supplier saw quarterly EPS reached E5.28, 9% above consensus, on sales of E7.5bn, above both the consensus and guidance.

However, net order intake came in at just E2.6bn, after E5.6bn in Q2, clearly below consensus at E5.6bn and even below analysts' forecast of E4.5bn, they point out.

On this occasion, the group has updated its 2025 guidance, and is now targeting sales of only E30bn/E35bn, down from E30bn/E40bn, Oddo BHF adds, which maintains an 'outperform' rating on ASML shares, while reducing its target price from E1,150 to E950.
