Airbus: research partnership with Toshiba

(CercleFinance.com) - Airbus has announced a partnership between its subsidiary Airbus UpNext and the energy branch of the Toshiba Group, who will cooperate and pool their experience in superconducting technologies for future hydrogen-powered aircraft.


The aircraft manufacturer explains that these technologies offer a unique advantage for such aircraft, using liquid hydrogen at -253°C as a fuel but also to efficiently cool electric propulsion systems.

Cryogenic technology could enable virtually intact power transmission in the aircraft's electrical systems, thus considerably improving their energy efficiency and performance, Airbus adds.
