Visa: 100 million tokens issued in France in 2024

(CercleFinance.com) - Visa announces that it has passed the milestone of 100 million tokens issued in 2024, an achievement that testifies to the confidence of French banks and businesses in the secure payment solutions offered by Visa.


Tokenization, which replaces sensitive payment card information with unique digital identifiers or 'tokens', offers an additional layer of security against fraud, the payment solutions group explains.

Tokens can be used for online payments, mobile payments and digital wallet services in particular. Currently, 29% of all transactions processed by Visa use tokens.
