Sanofi: in negotiations for the sale of Opella

(CercleFinance.com) - Sanofi announces that it has entered into negotiations with CD&R for the potential sale of a 50% controlling interest in Opella, its consumer healthcare business, which employs over 11,000 people and operates in 100 countries.


With brands such as Allegra, Doliprane, Novanuit, Icy Hot and Dulcolax, Opella is the world's number three in over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, minerals and dietary supplements, serving the needs of more than half a billion people.

The potential independence of Opella is in line with Sanofi's strategy to focus on innovative medicines and vaccines. Opella already operates today as an autonomous entity within the Group.

Should the discussions reach a positive outcome, any agreement would be reached after consultation with employee representative bodies. Further information on this potential separation will be communicated in due course, once a decision has been taken.
