GE Vernova: selected by the US Department of Energy
(CercleFinance.com) - GE Vernova announces that it has been selected, along with five other companies (BWXT, Centrus, Framatome, Orano and Westinghouse), as part of the Biden-Harris administration's 'Investing in America' program.
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has awarded contracts to these companies, with the aim of stimulating the development of a U.S. fuel supply chain for advanced nuclear reactors.
Many advanced reactors will require high-grade low-enriched uranium (HALEU) to achieve smaller designs, longer operating cycles and higher yields than current technologies.
All contracts will last up to 10 years and each awardee will receive a minimum contract value of $2 million, with up to $800 million available for these services, subject to the availability of appropriations.
