Boeing: talks suspended with machinists

(CercleFinance.com) - Boeing shares are down over 2% in early trading on Wall Street, the day after the aircraft manufacturer announced that it was suspending talks to end the massive machinists' strike that has been affecting it for almost a month.


Our team negotiated in good faith and put forward new and improved proposals in an attempt to reach a compromise, including increases in take-home pay and pensions, CEO said.

Unfortunately, the union did not take our proposals seriously. Instead, it has made non-negotiable demands well beyond what can be accepted if we are to remain competitive as a company, it continues.

Judging that further negotiations did not make sense, Boeing management withdrew its offer, but said it would work with the union when it is ready to negotiate an agreement that preserves the future of the company'.
