Rio Tinto: acquires Arcadium Lithium
(CercleFinance.com) - The mining group Rio Tinto announces that it will acquire Arcadium Lithium in a cash transaction of $5.
85 per share, valuing Arcadium at about $6.7bn.
This offer represents a premium of 90% to Arcadium's closing price on 4 October 2024.
The acquisition will enable Rio Tinto to integrate the global operations of Arcadium, a major lithium producer with an annual capacity of 75,000 tonnes lithium carbonate equivalent, doubling by 2028.
The acquisition of Arcadium is a key step in our long-term strategy to support the energy transition, Rio Tinto said.
