Siemens: Erlangen plant recognized by WEF

(CercleFinance.com) - The World Economic Forum (WEF) has announced that the Siemens plant in Erlangen, Germany, has become a Digital Lighthouse Factory, joining its global network.


This distinction highlights manufacturing sites that are embracing the technologies of the fourth industrial revolution.

Thanks to the Green Lean Digital approach, the plant has increased productivity by 69% and reduced energy consumption by 42% in four years.

The establishment of on-site semiconductor production for high-performance frequency converters has also been a success.

Siemens has invested 500 million euros in Erlangen to turn it into a global research and development hub. The plant, already recognized for its innovation, is the Group's third to receive this distinction, following those in Amberg and Chengdu.
