Clasquin: green light from Brussels for acquisition by MSC

(CercleFinance.com) - The European Commission has approved the acquisition of the French engineering company Clasquin by the Luxembourg-based shipping and logistics group MSC.


In a press release, Brussels considers that the transaction - which mainly concerns the markets for the provision of scheduled deep-sea container shipping services and sea freight forwarding - would not raise competition concerns.

The European executive cited a limited impact on competition in the markets where the companies are active.

The case was examined under the normal merger control procedure.

At the end of 2023, MSC announced the acquisition of the 42% stake held by Clasquin chairman Yves Revol, followed by the launch in March of a takeover bid for the remainder of the share capital, which is still in progress.
