Eni: green light for CO2 storage project in Liverpool

(CercleFinance.com) - Eni announces that it has secured commitment and funding from the UK government for an economic license for the Liverpool Bay CO2 transport and storage project.


This funding marks the launch of the carbon capture and storage (CCS) industry in the UK, with investments for Track 1 industrial emitters and the HyNet project.

As operator of the transport and storage system, Eni will help reduce emissions from industries in the North West of England and Wales.

HyNet targets an initial capacity of 4.5 million tonnes of CO2 per year, with the potential to expand to 10 million after 2030, and will create new production chains and jobs.
