BAE Systems: launches Agamemnon attack submarine
(CercleFinance.com) - BAE Systems announces that the Agamemnon attack submarine, the sixth of the Royal Navy's Astute class, has been launched at Barrow-in-Furness.
This nuclear-powered submarine, weighing 7,400 tons and 97 metres long, has
been launched for the first time. Agamemnon is now starting its test program prior to sea trials.
Steve Timms, Managing Director of Submarines at BAE Systems, welcomed this crucial milestone, underlining the complexity of the design and construction of these submarines, key elements of the UK's defense.
