Eli Lilly: $4.5 billion invested in Indiana

(CercleFinance.com) - Eli Lilly announced on Wednesday its intention to invest some $4.
5 billion in the construction of a new site in Indiana, which will be dedicated to both research and drug manufacturing.

The pharmaceutical group states that this new-generation complex, which it considers to be the 'first of its kind', will enable it to produce new compounds at a time when it is seeking to accelerate the development of treatments for difficult-to-treat diseases.

In particular, the center will enable it to manufacture batches of drugs to supply its clinical trials, from small molecules to therapeutic nucleic acids.

Headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, Lilly says the Medicine Foundry project, based in the Lebanon district, some 40 km from its offices, will create 400 jobs for researchers, engineers and technicians.

In its press release, Lilly states that this investment will bring the total amount it has devoted to the Lebanon innovation zone since 2022 to over $13 billion.
