Vicat: creates joint division with Belgium's Koramic
(CercleFinance.com) - French cement manufacturer Vicat and Belgium's Koramic announced on Wednesday that they had reached an agreement to combine their respective tile and masonry product activities.
This merger, which is described as "strategic", will see the integration of the construction chemistry activities of Vicat's VPI subsidiary and Koramic's Cermix adhesive mortar brand, under the Vicat group umbrella.
Through this project, both industrial partners say they want to create a leader in the tile and masonry setting products market, with sales of close to E200m.
The merger will create a group with seven industrial sites in France, and increased production capacity of 800,000 tonnes under two strong brands.
In addition to increasing capacity, the merger will promote synergies in services and research, particularly with a view to meeting the challenges of decarbonisation.
The merger is subject to approval by the competition authorities.
